According to the Prohibition of Employment as manual scavengers and their rehabilitation act, 2013., a manual scavenger is a person who is engaged or employed by an individual or a local authority or an agency or a contractor for manual cleaning, carrying, disposing of, or otherwise handling in any manner, human excreta in an insanitary laterine or in an open drain or pit into which the human excreta from the insanitary latrines is disposed of, or in railway track or other spaces as notified by the government.
According to WHO, genetically modified organisms (GMOs) can be defined as organisms (i.e. plants, animals or microorganisms) in which the genetic material (DNA) has been altered in a way that does not occur naturally by mating and/or natural recombination.
