International Conference on Disaster Resilient Infrastructure 2025

On 6–7 June 2025, the seventh International Conference on Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (ICDRI), hosted by the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI), was held in Nice, France.

It was held for the first time in Europe and brought together global leaders, experts, and policymakers to discuss climate-resilient infrastructure, especially in coastal regions.

Why Focus on Coastal Resilience?
Area Importance
Economic Significance Coastal regions contribute around $1.5 trillion to global GDP annually, projected to double by 2030.
Population Exposure Nearly 37% of the global population lives within 100 km of coastlines.
Disaster Risk Coastal areas face higher risks from sea-level rise, cyclones, and extreme weather events.
Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI)

Launch A global multilateral platform launched by India in 2019.
Headquarters New Delhi.
Membership 53 countries and 12 partner organisations.
Participants Includes national governments, UN agencies, multilateral banks, and private sector entities.
Main Purpose Promotes infrastructure resilience against climate and disaster risks.
CDRI Mission and Framework Alignment
Component Details
2050 Mission By 2050, CDRI aims to drive US$10 trillion of infrastructure investments and services to become resilient to natural hazards and climate change.
Human Impact Seeks to improve environmental quality, livelihoods, and well-being for more than 3 billion people worldwide.
Sendai Framework Directly supports the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction.
SDG Link Aligned with SDG 9 — Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure.
