On 15th January 2025, in a significant move towards ‘One Nation, One Time,’ the Union government introduced the Draft Legal Metrology (Indian Standard Time) Rules, 2025, aimed at establishing precise synchronization of time.

The Draft Legal Metrology (Indian Standard Time) Rules, 2025 involve coordination with the Department of Consumer Affairs, National Physical Laboratory (NPL), and ISRO. The aim is to disseminate Indian Standard Time with high precision for critical infrastructure and national systems.
