Prime Minister Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana (PMDKY)

Prime Minister Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana (PMDKY)

Launched during the Union Budget on 1st February 2025, the Prime Minister Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana (PMDKY) aims to uplift the agricultural landscape of 100 selected districts. It is inspired by the Aspirational Districts Programme (ADP) model of convergence and competition.

The scheme focuses on districts with low agricultural productivity, moderate cropping intensity and poor credit availability. By improving irrigation, storage, farm credit and sustainable farming practices, it seeks to reduce regional disparities and strengthen rural incomes.

Aspect Details
Target districts Covers 100 districts identified by low productivity, moderate cropping intensity and weak farm-credit access.
Beneficiaries Aims to benefit around 1.7 crore farmers in lagging agricultural regions.
Productivity focus Focuses on irrigation expansion, improved farm productivity and better access to short-term and long-term agricultural credit.
Infrastructure Encourages post-harvest storage facilities at Panchayat and Block levels to reduce wastage.
Sustainability Promotes crop diversification and eco-friendly farming practices for climate resilience.
Funding model Uses a convergence-based approach by pooling resources from existing schemes under the Agriculture Ministry and allied sectors.
