On 15th February 2025, Facebook owner Meta announced Project Waterworth, an ambitious plan to build a 50,000 km-long undersea cable network, surpassing Earth’s circumference, to enhance global connectivity and support AI development.

The project aims to strengthen the global digital highway through new subsea infrastructure and faster high-capacity data transfer systems.
