The government is trying to achieve the target of inclusive growth and to do so, it is trying to provide skills and rural employment opportunities.
Therefore, as a part of the skill development strategy, government came with Deen Dayal Upadhyay Grameen Kaushal Yojna(DDUGKY).
Some features of the scheme are:
- The youth under the age-group of 15-35 years is eligible to get the benefit of this scheme.
- Special focus is to be given on the marginalized section of Indian society i.e. SC/ST: 50%; Minority: 15% and Women: 33%
- IT enabled scheme where there is a provision of biometric attendance.
- Online maintenance of records, materials, skills, classes, etc.
- Rs.6000 as stipend to the beneficiary.
- Training to career progression by providing new employment opportunities both nationally and internationally.
- Proactive approach by providing 75% employment guarantee post training.
- The program also provides regional focus for the North-East region, hilly region and backward areas.
DDUGKY has become the part of Mission Aajevika and Mission Antodaya through which migration from rural to urban areas is prevented.
Even through this scheme, the problem of disguised unemployment is solved and there is revival of rural grass root or cottage industry as provide under article 39 & 41 (DPSP).
