Jaipur Declaration

  • The Jaipur Declaration was adopted at the conclusion of the 18th UIC World Security Conference, which was jointly organised by the International Union of Railways (UIC) and Railway Protection Force (RPF).

  • The Jaipur Declaration" lays forth a concrete plan of action for UIC to investigate cutting-edge strategies that can assist international railroad organizations to realize their long-term objective of safety and security.
  • By also completely activating the regional assemblies for Asia-Pacific, Latin America, and Africa by 2025, it demonstrated UIC's commitment to work towards providing a more secure and safe rail network around the world.
  • Adoption of New Technologies and the Role of RPF: It urged the development of all-encompassing solutions for railway security using cutting-edge technologies like artificial intelligence, 5G, and the Internet of Things.

18th World Security Congress:

  • The UIC World Security Congress 2023 was organized by Railway Protection Force India and UIC and took place in Jaipur from February 20–23, 2023.
  • In order to explore the most recent innovations and best practices in railway security, the conference gathered together experts, stakeholders, and participants from all over the world.
  • Theme: ‘Railway Security Strategy: Responses and Vision for Future.’

What is the Railway Protection Force?

  • In India, the RPF is the leading security and law enforcement agency for railway security.
  • RPF, which was established in 1957 as a federal force, is in charge of maintaining the safety of train zones, passengers, and property.
  • RPF members uphold the motto "Sewa hi Sankalp- A commitment to serve" by serving the nation and going above and beyond in the course of their duties.
  • The Railway Protection Force (RPF) has made a significant contribution to improving passenger security in India through a number of projects, including Operation Nanhe Farishte for the rescue of children and Operation AAHT for the release of women and children from human traffickers' grasp.

About UIC:

  • Paris is home to the UIC (Union International Des Chemins), or International Union of Railways, which was founded in 1922.
  • It is an international professional organisation that represents the rail industry for rail transportation research, development, and promotion.
  • Members are encouraged to actively participate in UIC working groups and assemblies where the railroads' stance on local/global issues is developed.
  • Active involvement in the working groups offers a special chance to express viewpoints and gain from the influence of the railway industry on a coordinated global scale.
