Pradhan Mantri National Apprenticeship Mela

  • The Pradhan Mantri National Apprenticeship Mela (PMNAM) was recently held by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) as part of the Skill India Mission.
  • The event saw the participation of numerous businesses from various industries, giving them the chance to meet potential apprentices on a single platform, make immediate hiring decisions, and give applicants a chance to work for their company.

What are the PMNAM's Key Points?

  • Every month, apprenticeship melas are held under the NSDM, and chosen individuals are given a stipend in accordance with government standards in order to develop new skills.
  • PMNAM is being used as a platform to boost institutions' and students' participation. Additionally, it informs young people about the variety of opportunities offered by the participating businesses.
  • This program's main goal is to persuade businesses to take on more apprentices while also helping them find the right talent and help them reach their full potential through education and hands-on experience.
  • By the end of 2022, it hopes to increase the number of apprenticeship opportunities in India to 10 lakh, and to 60 lakh by 2026.
  • To accomplish this mission, the government is working to train 1 million youth annually through apprenticeship training.
